Harrison Guy presents

Between Two Worlds

A Hymn for Black Gay Men on Race, Religion, & Rites of Passage

In collaboration with Urban Souls Dance Company

This performance requires minimal standing and walking of the audience.

Between Two Worlds is a dance theater installation/performance created by Harrison Guy about the lives, experiences, and memories of black gay men. It looks at the reality of how our lives are full of intersections and crossings. Crisscrossing generations, nationalities, expressions, identities, and beliefs, like a tightly woven braid. Between Two Worlds asks the question, “Can black gay men be many things, at once?”

Taking place during Gay Pride weekend, remembering the Stonewall Riots, the performance will allow viewers to experience Sheila Pepe’s installation "put me down gently" at DiverseWorks as a part of the performance.  Yes, the audience will move a little bit, but be mindful of the intersections.

Between Two Worlds is funded by The Houston Arts Alliance (individual artist) grant.
