Brazilian Beats features music by renowned Cuban-Spanish composer Leo Brouwer, including the world premiere of a 20x2020 commission inspired by the rhythms of Brazil. The journey continues with music by Brazilian-born film composer Marcelo Zarvos, and we collaborate with METdance and Houston Ballet artists in the premiere of a newly-choreographed set of string quartets by eminent Brazilian composer Villa Lobos and Maestro Brouwer. Featuring a new canvas painting by Brazilian artist Tony Paraná, commissioned for this program.
