La Speranza

Mission

Named after the Italian word for "hope", La Speranza seeks to illuminate and explore the link between music and wellness through their performances and outreach. La Speranza gives historically informed performances of chamber music spanning repertoire from the Baroque to Romantic eras throughout Houston communities.

About

La Speranza was founded in 2016 by violist Yvonne Smith who is passionate about sharing the transcendent beauty of historically informed chamber music with audiences in Houston and beyond. In their first season, La Speranza has performed on the Memorial Classical Music Series and the Houston Methodist Crain Garden Series as well as in Christ the King Presbyterian Church and several support groups and gatherings. Their 2017-2018 concert series, called "Mentors Inspire!", will focus on the role of mentors in our physical and emotional wellness through the works of Franz Joseph Haydn and his colleagues. The musicians of La Speranza are historical performance specialists and active performers in the United States and Europe.

La Speranza is fiscally sponsored by Fresh Arts, a non profit 501(c)3 arts organization.
