Mixteco Ballet Folklórico is committed to the research, preservation, and education of Mexican customs, traditions, and culture through the vibrant expressions of music and dance. Founded in 1992, the organization aims to provide Houston-area youth with enriching cultural experiences that foster artistic development and community engagement. Under the direction of Jose Sada and Rosalia Chapa, the group instills both mental and physical discipline while incorporating innovative choreography into traditional folkloric dances. Mixteco’s excellence has been recognized with Grand Champion titles at the Competencia Folklórica de Texas in 2015, 2016, and 2018, a prestigious event held annually in Corpus Christi, Texas.
