Zoom Shakespeare Productions is dedicated to bringing new life to old stories in new and exciting ways. We also aim to create casts as diverse as Houston itself, and open many roles to any actor, regardless of gender identity, race, or disability.
Zoom Shakespeare Productions began in March 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with 17 actors from the Houston area gathering together to read A Midsummer Night's Dream on Zoom. The next week, we performed Much Ado About Nothing. Since then, Zoom Shakespeare Productions has produced 70 virtual performances with actors from all over the US, as well as from Canada, Italy, Russia, and England. In our first two years, the company performed the entirety of the Shakespeare canon, four world premiere adaptations of public domain works, and a three-part audio play adaptation of Peter Pan.
In 2023, we made a monumental shift with our first in-person production, Much Ado About Nothing, followed by a highly acclaimed world-premiere adaptation of Dracula, a gender-fluid Macbeth, and a world-premiere adaptation of Cyrano De Bergerac. Twelfth Night marks the company's fifth in-person show and 75th production!
