It’s the season of the Winter Solstice sometime in the late 1930s, and Cecil Johnson, a government-funded folklore researcher is traveling through Appalachia, collecting traditional songs, dance tunes, legends and stories that are shared with him by the people he encounters along the way.
Join the fun as Cecil meets Jack, Aunt Ollie, Mr Conner and other colorful characters who sing, dance, tell stories and put on an authentically American version of the traditional Winter Solstice Mummers’ Play in celebration of the Yuletide season, New Year’s and Old Christmas (January Sixth), but beware! There are folks in the holler who are suspicious of Cecil and his motives (especially his government affiliation!), and they are determined to shut down his project.
