With the success of Playhouse Creatures, Lionwoman Productions TX’s next production is Dancing Lessons, by acclaimed playwright Mark St. Germain and directed by Lionwoman’s founder, Michelle Britton.
Dancing Lessons is a delightful comedy about a man on the spectrum, and his methodical and dogged pursuit of dance lessons with a teacher who is shut down and can’t let go of what she might have been. Through wit, tenderness, and moments of profound discovery, Dancing Lessons explores themes of acceptance, empathy, and finding joy in life’s unexpected turns.
“I am excited to bring Dancing Lessons to Houston audiences,” says Britton. “This play is a celebration of resilience, vulnerability, and the transformative power of human connection. I believe audiences will be moved by its humor and honesty.”
Mark St. Germain is an award-winning playwright known for Freud’s Last Session, Becoming Dr. Ruth, and Best of Enemies. His plays are celebrated for their fast-paced dialogue and emotional depth.
The cast of Dancing Lessons includes Katrina Ellsworth, Brad Goertz, and Adrienne Shearer.
The Dancing Lessons creative team includes Director Michelle Britton, Set and Lighting Designer Edgar Guajardo, Sound Designer Hayley Christensen, Properties Designer Charly Topper, Choreographer Adrienne Shearer, Intimacy Director Deborah Hope, Movement Coach Jamie Garner, and Stage Manager Curmira A. Bill.
