Jazz singer and songwriter Raquel Cepeda presents Jazz on Valentine's Concert 2025, an event to celebrate love, romance, and friendship through the power of music.
Jazz on Valentine's Concert, now in its 9th edition, has become over the years one of the top activities to enjoy Valentine's Day in Houston, a musical aphrodisiac for mind, body, and soul.
Featuring a repertoire of classic jazz standards and original compositions, with arrangements that incorporate sounds and flavors from around the world in a refined and unique style, the singer and her band will reach the hearts of the beautifully diverse Houston audience in an inspiring evening of sound and message.
Cepeda will perform in the company of her jazz septet, composed of Barry Sames on piano, Thomas Helton on double bass, Adriano Santos on drums, Cassio Duarte on percussion, Salvador Velasco on trumpet, and Brian Perez on sax.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Raquel Cepeda is a jazz singer and songwriter who brings the best styles and rhythms from around the world to the refined language and aesthetics of jazz. A performer whose interpretative quality, approach to storytelling, and multicultural style have the ability to reach the hearts and ears of the most demanding and diverse audiences.
A highly regarded singer who has shared the stage with jazz legends such as Ellis and Delfeayo Marsalis, Raquel Cepeda is also a former geologist for the oil industry and is originally from Venezuela.
She has released two albums as a soloist. Her latest album, "Passion," was nominated for "Best Jazz Album" at the 2020 Pepsi Music Awards and remained in the #1 position on the Roots Music Report Jazz chart for 8 consecutive weeks.
Cepeda has performed at notable Houston stages including the Miller Outdoor Theatre, MATCH, and The Heights Theater; and internationally in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, and Venezuela.
Cepeda has been featured by such cultural organizations as Houston Da Camera, Kingwood Pops Symphonic Orchestra, Friends of Chamber Music of Bryan/College Station, and the Harris County Cultural Arts Center, and has opened for renowned artists including percussionist Poncho Sanchez and the legendary band The Commodores.
