Houston Islamic Film Fest (HIFF) is a community-centered short film showcase dedicated to uplifting authentic, powerful Muslim storytelling. Rooted in the theme “Beyond Stereotypes,” HIFF challenges filmmakers to move past tired tropes and portray Muslims with truth, depth, dignity, and lived reality.

This event brings together filmmakers, artists, students, and community members for an evening of film, dialogue, and culture—centered on reclaiming narrative power through the arts.

Program Overview

• Short Film Screenings:
  3–4 curated short films by Muslim filmmakers, spanning narrative, documentary, and experimental styles.

• Live Judging:
  Films will be evaluated in real time using a clear rubric focused on storytelling, originality, craft, and alignment with the festival theme.

• Audience Q&A:
  Moderated discussions between screenings, allowing filmmakers to engage directly with the audience about their creative process and message.

• Awards & Recognition:
  Select films will receive recognition for excellence in storytelling and impact.
