KIMA

An Original Short Film Anthology & Live Showcase

Each presentation features a collection of short cinematic monologues and duologues accompanied by brief live theatrical extensions---expanding the story beyond the screen through staged moments, audience interaction, and minimal performance. KIMA exists at the intersection of film, theatre, music and community.

KIMA is a collaborative Houston film project built around original storytelling, performance, music, and the development of emerging creative talent.

Created by director, writer, and producer Kevin Tati and composer and producer Matias Chavez, KIMA brings together a local team of actors, filmmakers, musicians, and production professionals to create a series of original cinematic monologues and short-form works.

The KIMA Showcase at MATCH celebrates the culmination of that process, bringing the completed films to an audience and highlighting the artists who helped bring them to life. The evening offers an opportunity to experience the project on the big screen while celebrating Houston's growing community of independent filmmakers and creatives.

KIMA was developed with an emphasis on collaboration and hands-on creative experience, providing opportunities for emerging artists and students to work alongside experienced members of Houston's film and arts community.

Join us at MATCH for the KIMA Showcase and an evening celebrating independent film, original music, performance, and Houston creativity.

ABOUT THE CREATORS

Kevin Milton Tati is a multidisciplinary storyteller whose work bridges film, theatre, and immersive experiences. Drawing from a life shaped across the United Kingdom, Brazil, and the United States, he creates original work that brings artists and audiences together through bold, collaborative storytelling.

As the Lead Producer of KIMA (Keep Indie Media Alive), Kevin is developing a hybrid model that combines original films, live theatre, and immersive experiences. His training includes the New York Film Academy, The Art Institute of Austin, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. His work includes starring in the award-winning short film An Actor Prepares and serving as a judge for two Houston-area film festivals.

Matias Chavez is a Houston-based composer, producer, filmmaker, and founder of Amimore LLC. His work spans original music, film scoring, visual storytelling, and film production. He is a recipient of the AMD Emerging Talent Award at the Global Entertainment Awards for his trailer work on “INFINITY,” and his creative work has included projects presented through MATCH as well as involvement with Houston's independent film community. For KIMA, Chavez serves as co-creator, producer, and composer, developing the project's music and helping oversee its production.

Together, Tati and Chavez created KIMA as a platform for original work and collaboration among Houston artists, with an emphasis on giving emerging creatives meaningful opportunities to contribute to professionally produced work.
