New works by John Jenkins
For thousands of years, cultures around the world have given the wind names, faces, and personalities, transforming an invisible force of nature into figures of mythology.
In The Winds, Houston-area artist John Jenkins reimagines twelve classical winds through an immersive installation that brings together painting, mythology, artificial intelligence, light, and sound.
Presented in a circular environment, twelve original paintings invite visitors to explore the relationships between ancient symbolism and contemporary technology. Developed through an ongoing creative dialogue between the artist and artificial intelligence, the works examine how we assign identity, intention, and meaning to forces we cannot directly see.
Moving through the installation, visitors become part of an experience that challenges the boundaries between observer and participant, the familiar and the unknown.
