Performing Arts Hub Norway (formerly known as Norwegian Association for Performing Arts) was established as an interest organisation in 1977, after an initiative taken by artists within the field of independent performing arts. The main mission was to establish a supporting practice for independent performing arts companies working outside of the theatre institutions.
The organisation today
The foundation Performing Arts Hub Norway is a national competence centre organised as a network organisation. Currently 92 member companies take part in the network. Performing Arts Hub Norway is an enterprise with 3,5 full-time positions, and is also employing a varying number of freelancers connected to different projects. Performing Arts Hub Norway is supported by The Norwegian Ministry of Culture, via The National Budget, Chapter 324, Allocation 74. Performing Arts Hub Norway works with information and networking across Norwegian and international professional communities. We collaborate with The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, embassies, Arts Council Norway, performing arts organisations and institutions in producing seminars, programs for expert visits and major projects. Performing Arts Hub Norway functions as a performing arts advisor for The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and also manages the Ministry's travel grant system for Norwegian performing artists performing abroad.
