TALA services include lawyer and accountant pro bono assistance for artists, patent pro bono assistance for inventors, and educational programs for the artistic and business communities. Programs are designed to help participants apply sound business practices to protect intellectual property, advance careers, and develop income. TALA believes that individuals, regardless of economic status or personal heritage, should have access to business knowledge and advice to further a career in the creative industries.
Since 1979, TALA has offered free services to financially qualified artists and arts nonprofits in all creative disciplines. Artists and nonprofit staff are matched with individual accountants and attorneys to obtain valuable advice and assistance. In 2017, TALA began a partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to match financially qualified inventors with patent attorneys and agents for the filing of patent applications.
TALA offers free seminars and clinics throughout the State that anyone may attend regardless of income.
