In the Gypsy world nothing is how you know it. The women make the money and call the shots. The men drink, gamble and cheat. If you don't submit to those rules as a child, you're ostracized, cast out and shunned. Voices in your head, people no one else can see. Don't talk about it. Look away. Shut your mouth and your ears. Every Gypsy is born with a gift. But the course of the Gypsy is, we don't talk about it. We don't share it, we horde it until it consumes us in the one way you don't want it to. My whole life every Gypsy I know says the mafia stole their whole thing from us. I don't know if that's true, but I know we sure taught them a thing or two. My father was a carny and my mother an orphan who raised herself. This is not just my story or theirs- its all the Ghoma that came before and the ones who come next.
