Before the impressionist world of Debussy and Ravel, there was a generation of romantic composers in France creating some of the most impassioned and heartbreaking works ever written. Chausson’s unusual Concerto for violin, piano and string quartet manages to rival the intensity of a full orchestra with only six players, while Faure’s C minor Piano Quartet is beloved by audiences around the world for its tuneful beauty. Former Metropolitan Opera concertmaster David Chan joins virtuoso pianist Evelyn Chen, violinists Boson Mo and Tong Yan, violist Sam Pederson and cellist Brinton Averil Smith for an evening of showcasing the beauty of the Belle Époque.
