Celebrating the United Nations International Day of Tolerance Rice University Arts of Tolerance presents Dance for Humanity. An exciting and dynamic program, Dance for Humanity brings a panoramic view of world cultures through movement and costumes representing many parts of the world. Dance for Humanity is a reflection of the beauty and power that as a community we can find when we come together for a common good. The artists for this evening represent many cultures from as far as Asia to Africa to the American continent and beyond; among them: Dance of Asian America, Danza Azteca Aquetzalli, Intuitive African Dance and Drum Culture, Solero Flamenco, Anjali Center for Performing Arts, Intempo Dance, Shaolin Shi Xing Hao Kung Fung Fu, Urban Souls Dance Company, Reinaldo Costa, Strictly Street Salsa, Alfonso Alarcón, Ricardo Maga Rojas.

Dance for Humanity welcomes world renowned Cuban choreographer and master teacher, Alexis Zanety presenting three works commemorating ‘1619’. The year 2019 marks 400 years since Africans were brought as slaves to the United States. Zanety’s works build on their struggles and amazing positive outlook of life, their music, their dances, and their religion; while providing a glimpse into their everyday lives and situation, where no matter what - there is always music and dance! Dance for Humanity makes us connect with people and cultures from around the world through the power of music and movement.
