American Neoclassical Ballet
Holiday Series
Artistic Director and Choreographer Erin Boone Premieres our Holiday Series
The performance includes four ballets--Winter, Menorah, Arms that Gently Hold, Christmas Concerto--to show different aspects of the holiday season. Winter with music by Max Richter after Antonio Vivaldi's 'Winter' section of "The Four Seasons". The piece exemplifies the fury of a snowstorm and also the quietude of a snow-covered landscape. Next on the program is Menorah to the music "Overture on Hebrew Themes, Op. 34" by Sergei Prokofiev. This celebratory piece to a hauntingly beautiful score for the unique combination of clarinet, string quartet, and piano represents new beginnings and transcendence. The short piece--Arms that Gently Hold--to the Piano Guys version of "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" is a serene and thought-provoking ballet that provides a sense of safety and belonging. Also on the program is Christmas Concerto to Arcangelo Corelli's "Concerto Grosso in G minor, Op. 6, No. 8". This ballet reflects the reverence and mystery of Christmas.
