The Ponce Project

Mission

Ponce Project Music Foundation's mission is to resuscitate, promote and advance the music of Latinoamerican composers, building a lasting bridge between Latinoamerican music heritage and today's audiences.

About

The Ponce Project is a non-profit music arts organization founded in 2019 by Mexican pianist Omar Herrera Arizmendi. The organization's vision is to help incorporate the canon of the Latin American Classical Music repertoire into the realm of the classical music world. The Ponce Project aims to raise awareness of such repertoire by creating and cultivating knowledgeable and appreciative audiences through performances and educational projects of the highest caliber.

We believe the quality, diversity and quantity of the music deserves attention in all the music halls around the world, big and small, all year round.

We believe that music education at all levels should include works not only from the European masters, but from the Latinoamerican masters as well.

We believe that everyone, especially the young, need to be aware of this repertoire so stereotypes and perceptions from years of cultural colonialism begin to erode.

We believe in a world in which every artist is judge solely on his own merit and without economic, political and cultural hegemonies.

We believe It's Time to Celebrate Latin American Classical Music!
