An Exhibition Featuring Houston Legends on World Stages
When Calvin Owens invited Eugene Carrier to join the B. B. King Orchestra in 1979, the blues was beginning to realize its most dramatic era in worldwide appreciation. He brought home dozens of posters from his travels with foreign language graphics that show just how popular the blues was in Europe, South America, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. From the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta, East Texas and the Gulf Coast, this music and its musicians was heralded for their talent and their wisdom.Read more

Workshop Information
Naomi Carrier, M.Ed. historian and educator will conduct the workshop and Panel Discussion. She had numerous experiences on the road with her husband, Eugene, and the B. B. King Band, both at home and abroad and is the exhibit’s curator. She will highlight some of those experiences as well as those of other Houston Blues Musicians.
