At its core, "La Reina de la Noche" captures the true essence of January's drag. It is a combination of burlesque, pole and contemporary dance fused with high fashion, voguing, and avant-garde concepts. It encompasses the heart and soul of January’s persona and performance aesthetic. The show is complete with groundbreaking spectacles, gravity defying pole dancing, intricate costumes and exuding theatricality. "La Reina de la noche'' incorporates local artists in Houston of multiple ethnic backgrounds and disciplines, including dancers, DJ and musicians. The intention is to create an immersive production that centers the experiences of queer artists with Central American and Southern roots. Furthermore, it will demonstrate how they evolve, despite their lack of representation in media, into being role models in their communities. The evening will encapsulate the artist's evolution and inspirations. It pays homage to the womxn that inspired their drag.
January began as a dancer and later progressed into the drag space, combining her love for contemporary dance, fashion, music, and live performing.
