Apollo's season opener marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with the live world premiere of With Malice Toward None by Vietnam veteran composer J. Kimo Williams. Juxtaposing the Enlightenment philosophies of Ludwig van Beethoven and President Lincoln, this new work weaves storytelling and social contradictions with calls to action and good old-fashioned rock ’n’ roll. World-renowned electric violinist Tracy Silverman joins Apollo for a program aspiring to heal and to “bend the arc of the moral universe towards justice for all”.
“[Silverman is] the greatest living exponent of the electric violin.” BBC Radio
“[Kimo’s music] is unfailingly vital.” The New York Times
