South Asian Folk Arts Council is excited to honor the faith traditions of the Indian sub-continent through its inaugural SMoSa Festival (Spiritual Music of South Asia). Artists and ensembles will share devotional music, which is traditionally only heard and performed within religious settings.
The event will feature only some of the devotional music of South Asia. This year, the festival will include Bhajans from Hindusim, Qawwali from Islam, and Kirtan from Sikhism. It is the hope that the arts can bridge community divides that may have been exacerbated by geopolitical tensions.
