The 21st Night of September

Date TIme
Wednesday, Sep. 21 8:00 PM

The 21st Night of September is an inaugural concert created by Native Houstonian, singer-songwriter, Lenora; presented by the Julius and Lenora Carter Scholarship and Youth Foundation and powered by the Forward Times multimedia company. As the granddaughter of Julius and Lenora Carter, the late founding publishers of the Forward Times, Lenora wanted to find a way to bridge her love of community, healing, and music, while also bringing awareness to the Julius and Lenora Carter Scholarship & Youth Foundation. Thus, The 21st Night of September was born.

Inspired by the Earth, Wind & Fire smash-hit “September,” The 21st Night of September’s purpose is to bring the community together for a night that honors and celebrates the past, while embracing the future. Backed by her 5-piece band, along with the help of a horn section, featured background vocalists and nationally acclaimed dancers, Lenora is looking to take you back to the golden standard of music; music that moves you and stirs the soul!

A portion of the proceeds from this special night will benefit the Julius and Lenora Carter Scholarship and Youth Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that awards scholarships in the areas of Journalism and Digital Communications to students who aspire to excel in the industry. Pre-selected scholarship recipients from Jack Yates High School and the Young Women's College Preparatory Academy will be invited to attend this celebratory evening of music and healing.
