Set in Selma, Alabama in 1966, against the backdrop of the civil rights movement, the play follows a determined black man who is committed to exercising his right to vote despite numerous obstacles. His journey is fraught with challenges, but his perseverance is supported by his worried yet supportive wife. The play highlights the historical and personal struggles of African-Americans fighting for their civil rights, culminating in a powerful and emotional narrative of resilience and hope.
