The Other Side Story

a One - Man Show Written and Performed by Angel Vazquez. The history of the Puerto Rican people in the USA

Sixto arrives in New York City in March 2020 to take care of family business. The last member of a Puerto Rican family has passed on. His only reference about Puerto Ricans in New York is the West Side Story. Therefore, Sixto has a preconceived opinion of them. What he does not know is that this apartment was the unofficial Puerto Rican Embassy during the 1920’s. He is about to discover some amazing stories. Once he enters that door, his life will be forever changed. And yours will too.

The Other Side Story entertains, transforms, educates, and inspires both new and old generations of Puerto Ricans on and off the island. The show has been successfully performed in New York, Puerto Rico and Chicago with excellent reviews.

The Other Side Story was the official selection of the New York Theatre Festival in October (2022). It was selected to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cultural Center in Chicago (2023) and it was the official selection of the Puerto Rican Theatre Festival and El Junte Boricua (2024).
