Bharatanatyam Salangai Pooja is a traditional milestone in a student’s classical dance journey. During this ceremony, the dancer’s salangai, or ankle bells, are blessed and honored before the student formally presents dance with the bells.

This event celebrates an important step in Bharatanatyam training, recognizing the discipline, devotion, rhythm, and grace that are central to the art form. Bharatanatyam is one of India’s classical dance traditions and combines expressive storytelling, rhythmic footwork, hand gestures, music, and devotion.

The program will include brief welcome remarks, a simple traditional blessing/pooja component, and a student Bharatanatyam presentation using recorded music. The event is family-friendly and suitable for all ages.

Program flow will include:

• Salangai blessing / pooja
• Bharatanatyam student presentation
• Closing remarks
