Written by Thomas Meloncon and directed by Errol Anthony Wilks, Book Ban at Stonewall Jackson High School unfolds in a Bible Belt corner of Texas, where Dr. Imani Adair becomes the school’s first African American librarian under its first African American principal, Mr. William Elliott. Imani finds an ally in Dr. Olivia Brown, a retired White librarian who shares her commitment to the enduring value of libraries.
When the school board moves to remove books primarily centered on African American and LGBTQ experiences, Imani finds herself at the center of an escalating battle over censorship, identity, and whose stories belong in the classroom. As community outrage intensifies and threats become personal, the fight over books forces everyone involved to confront the ethical and human cost of division.
