THE CHRISTMAS REVELS is an annual stage production that showcases winter traditions from various cultures and time periods. This year’s production, A German/Alpine Celebration of the Winter Solstice, explores the Germanic origins of modern-day Yuletide customs, including Christmas trees, “Silent Night”; and children’s lantern processions that herald the beginning of Winter. 

Featuring traditional Bavarian dances, legends, and joyful holiday music, this year’s production highlights Alpine folk music and also includes pieces from two of Germany’s most famous composers, Michael Praetorius and Ludwig van Beethoven.

CHRISTMAS REVELS audience members are encouraged to be active participants in the merry-making, and to sing along (even dance!) with the on-stage cast. This year, The Revels adult and children’s choruses perform alongside guest artists and musicians, including Randy Adams and members of his band Auf Geht’s Musik, which specializes in the traditional music of Germany and the Alps. Sean Keith Thompson is the co-producer and stage
director of Revels Houston’s 2026 production of THE CHRISTMAS REVELS, with music direction by Brandon Tanner.
