Did you know Cleopatra ruled Egypt alone? Where most Egyptian Dynasties were ruled as a Monarchy, she had to take on the role of empress without a King, family, or government on her side. This fact inspired Kevo to research Cleopatra heavily, inspiring the award-winning playwright to shed light on things most people don't realize about how Cleopatra connects to women's empowerment today. Cleopatra has been studied and told by many artists and historians overtime, we all must realize why the power of this one woman can influence centuries. 

The story opens on Cleopatra's early issues with her family in Act 1, "The Rise of Cleopatra," and we get into the everyday life of Egypt by Intermission. Act 2, "The Death of a Dynasty," details the fall of her kingdom, that ultimately changed the course of political history forever. With local talent from Houston, as well as talents from Kevo's past plays, witness Cleopatra's world premier - one night only - at Match Theater.
