Sketch Supercollider is an open-access showcase created to promote sketch comedy in Houston and help develop sketch writers, directors, and actors. Twice each year, anyone may submit an original sketch for consideration, regardless of experience level. Selected writers are supported as they develop their pieces, then take responsibility for directing and casting their own work. The result is a collaborative show built from many different comedic voices, with each writer-director bringing their own style, point of view, and sense of humor to the stage.

Direct Hits is our “best of” showcase, created as a chance to bring some of the funniest and most exciting work we’ve encountered back for another performance. For Direct Hits III, we’re expanding that idea. Along with standout pieces from past Sketch Supercollider showcases, we’ll also feature sketches we’ve seen elsewhere in Houston’s comedy community over the past year.

That means audiences can expect a wide range of styles, from character-driven absurdity and satire to relationship comedy, pop culture, current events, and whatever else Houston writers have been inspired by lately. Every piece is original, locally created, and performed by Houston artists.

Direct Hits III is our chance to look back at the year in Houston sketch, bring some favorite pieces back to the stage, and celebrate just how much funny, inventive work is being made here.
