6 Degrees/Toni Valle, Composer George Heathco, and Singer-Composer Misha Penton premiere Testimony at the Midtown Arts Theatre Center Houston on September 26-28, 2025. Testimony is an artistic response to the events surrounding the sculpture “Witness” by artist Shahzia Sikander: its origin and the silencing of Sikander's artistic voice through protests from religious group Texas Right to Life, and ultimately vandalism of the sculpture. Testimony is an aerial dance performance/visual art installation with an innovative sound score celebrating the original intention of the sculpture – to honor the strength and resilience of women within a patriarchal society and magnify the importance of feminism and bodily autonomy through sociological, and historical references embedded in the sculpture.
