The artist's inspiration can come from many sources: beautiful landscapes and nature, his or her life story, dedicatees, and - probably most notoriously - from passionate love. In the Axiom Quartet's newest program all these inspirations mix into an eclectic, fascinating thread: from "Landscapes" by Ernest Block to Leos Janacek's String Quartet No. 2 "Intimate Letters" written at the mature age of 63 and dedicated to a woman 37 years his junior. From Beethoven's "Razumovsky" quartet dedicated to one of the composer's most devoted supporters, to Bedrich Smetana's String Quartet No. 1 "From My Life", whose title's connection to the theme does not need explanation. The Axiom Quartet tells the story of "The Muse" throughout the evening.
