About the playwright and founder:

Tazeen Zahida (She/Her/Hers) is a South Asian Muslim playwright, language teacher, translator and literary critic  residing in Houston,Texas. Born in Pakistan to immigrant parents from India, she was raised as an expatriate in Saudi Arabia. She truly feels like someone from all over the world. Poetry played a major role in Tazeen’s upbringing. She grew up immersed in the writings of Ghalib, Faiz, Shakespeare, Shaw and eventually found her voice in playwriting. She writes plays in English and Urdu, inspired by current affairs, social issues, immigrant identity crises and family dynamics. She is invested in creating meaningful dialogue, intricately crafted characters and real life situations. Her aim is to  tell untold stories. In 2018 she founded Tee Zee Productions. Since then Tazeen has written, directed and produced 16 plays. She was commissioned by Performing Arts Houston to perform her play at The Wortham Center. Tazeen has received grants from Doris Duke Foundation, TCG, MAAA and BANF. Tazeen has served as a judge for Houston Arts Alliance and Isamili Art Festival. Tazeen is commissioned to produce a play for the Asia Society Texas in the fall of 2024.
