Karen Stokes Dance

4 Corners

a new evening length work by Choreographer Karen Stokes

4 Corners considers life as an on-going ebb & flow of time and space within a contained box. Audience members, seated around the edges of the box, view scenes of a continuous shifting journey. Life is perceived as being on a threshold. Movement considers time/space widening and closing, slowing and quickening, within the four corners of the earth. Choreographer Karen Stokes leans into the liminal, pulling back from tangibility to explore uncertainty, transition, and spaciousness.Read more

Artists for People:

A Humanity Benefit Concert for Gaza Supplies and Immigrant Aid in Houston

Artists For People is a two-night community benefit concert that brings together local Houston artists in solidarity with global and local struggles for justice. Through live performance, resource-sharing, and fundraising, we aim to support children and families in Gaza impacted by genocide, as well as our Houston neighbors affected by recent ICE raids and detentions. Our mission is to use art as a tool for collective action, resistance, and resource redistribution.

Come see dancers, musicians, vocalists, and other live performance artists in support for our local and global neighbors. This is a self-run, people-powered event featuring community-rooted art in support of Gaza supplies and immigrant aid in Houston— not affiliated with any institution — and all proceeds beyond covering the costs of this project will go directly to Gaza Sunbirds and the Houston Immigrant Legal Services Collaborative.Read more
