The Watsons Go to Birmingham

It’s 1963 and the Watsons, an African-American family, journey from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham, Alabama to take their troublesome son, Byron, to live with his grandmother, a trip that lands them in one of the darkest moments in America’s racial history. A fictionalization of the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, Curtis’ novel won the Newbery Honor and the Coretta Scott King Awards.

The Houston Fringe Festival returns live and in-person for the first time in two years! The 2021 festival marks the 14-year anniversary of Houston's very own fringe, featuring dance, music, film, storytelling, drag, and performance art! This year the festival will run for three evenings on October 15-17, and each night will feature a unique roster of fringe artists. Festival passes are available for all three nights. Read more

The Fall Showcase features an abridged staging of the third act from Petipa's The Sleeping Beauty, with principal guest artists Connor Walsh and Chae eun Yang from Houston Ballet performing the final wedding pas de deux.

The evening presents dancers of the Bayou City Ballet Youth Company in classical ballet, as well as in premiere neo-classical and contemporary works by Nao Kusuzaki and Lindsay Cortner created for the Youth Company. The program also includes two short guest performances by artists of Creative Minds Collaborative and the University of St. Thomas Dance Department.Read more

The performance is centered around January a drag artist from Houston, TX. It takes us through her journey as an artist/performer in New York City. The show features local creatives, singers, DJ and HIV organizations and promotes HIV awareness, education, and access to honor the LGBTQIA+ community and those affected by HIV. Read more
