TOC TOC by Laurent Baffie and Spanish version of Julián Quintanilla is a hilarious play dealing with a serious topic in a humorous vein: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). “TOC” is the Spanish Acronym for OCD.
Six characters displaying certain signs of OCD are in the waiting-room of a renowned psychiatrist. Because the doctor is late, however, these potential patients are about to embark on a new journey. Without either the expert or the expertise, and amid roaring bouts of laughter from the audience, they will attempt to create a therapeutic group of their own to help one another control their symptoms. The result is a play that is uproariously upbeat, yet the humor never offends.Read more

For this chamber music concert, Eric will be joined by Houston Symphony Principal cellist, Brinton Smith and – a very special guest – pianist, Dr. Ayke Agus. At age 21, Dr. Agus became a violin student of the legendary Jascha Heifetz at USC. Realizing that she was equally talented at the piano Mr. Heifetz insisted that she become the class pianist as well. This began a 16 year association, during which Ayke was friend, confidant and pianist for Mr. Heifetz, playing together with him for hours every day and working together to complete several of his iconic transcriptions. Brinton, who has worked with Ayke frequently, describes her as "almost a living time capsule of the playing of the golden era," saying "Ayke learned at the side of one of the greatest musicians in history, and you hear that long lost style and nuance reborn the moment she touches the keyboard."Read more
Master violinist/vocalist/composer L. Shankar is renowned for soulful performance of Indian classical music, both Hindustani and Carnatic. In the 1970s Shankar, with John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, and Vikku Vinayakram, co-founded the legendary Indo-Jazz group SHAKTI. In the 1980s, he introduced a ten-string double violin capable of covering the orchestra’s string section from violin to double bass. Shankar is accompanied on Tabla by Abhijit Banerjee- a pioneer of cross-genre collaborations, and on Mridangam and Kanjira by Dr. Rohan Krishnamurthy- a leading voice of cross-cultural music in the South Asian diaspora.Read more
