Dance Afrikana presents Kuumba: A Celebration of Afro-Dance is a dance presentation that celebrates Kwanzaa through one of its seven principles called Kuumba. Kuumba is Kiswahili for creativity and its purpose is to leave the community “more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.”
The presentation will showcase dance companies performing pieces that both represent Africa and the African Diaspora as well as embody the principle of Kuumba.Read more

Bhuvana Venkatraman & Chintan Patel explore the Ancient temple architecture through the spiritual journey of a Bhakta (devotee) through the Shiva temples of south India. During this journey of self-discovery, the artists draw parallels between the temple architecture, traditional Bharatanatyam Margam and the physical and spiritual Chakras of the body. For the first time since beginning rehearsals in August, the competition team will present its cut of INTO THE WOODS JR, the same cut that will be presented at MTCA 2020, an international musical theater competition happening this February near Los Angeles. Explorations on Landscape (Houston, 2019) features artworks by Venezuelan cartoonist Roberto Weil (Caracas, 1967), and brings together pieces of a diversity of formats and media, from acrylic paintings to hand-painted prints. The exhibition explores the artist’s most recent thematic investigations: nature, urban life, landscape, and space travel, as well as more intimate and emotional themes like music, playfulness, personal memories, and familiar spaces. Additionally, the artist explores the agonic landscape of the political situation of his native Venezuela, in the context of the democratic crisis of the last decades.Read more
Ferreras called them “lessons” because with these productions the director has been exploring the narrative film field, since he has mainly worked with commercials and documentaries.
The Lessons were produced with almost no budget. Each short film was shot with just one rehearsal, in four hours and in a small space. However, despite the low financial and time resources, they has been widely acclaimed in festivals such as Sedona, Outfest in Los Angeles, the New York Latino Film Festival, the Havana Film Festival, Newfest and NY Shorts.Read more
