The Umbilical Brothers: The Distraction

“Wildly funny, wildly creative…silly behavior of the highest calibre” The New York Times

The Umbilical Brothers are an international comedy phenomenon.

Their Nickelodeon series “The Upside Down Show”, as well as Disney’s “The Book of Once Upon A Time,"  “The Sideshow” and “Maisy” delivered them a fanbase of both fanatical toddlers and late-night, Taki-eating couch potatoes.

Named as two of Entertainment Weekly’s “100 Most Creative People In Entertainment," they have appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, after James Brown at Woodstock ’99, and before the Queen.
They’ve performed in 40 countries. From Hawaii to Tokyo, New York to Moscow, audiences have laughed like idiots at their acclaimed performances that use a fast-paced mix of movement, vocal sound effects and verbal interplay to cleverly twist theatrical rules and everyday situations into comedy triumph.

Starring George Parker and Kyle Sturdivant, revisiting their roles from 2017’s smash-hit production. Directed by Tamarie Cooper. Read more

Dinner with Friends

Dirt Dogs Theatre Co.

Dinner with Friends

Written by Donald Margulies, Directed by Curtis Barber

The end of a marriage is never just between two people.

Beneath the veneer of successful careers, elegant dinners, and decades-long friendships lies a more complicated truth. In Donald Margulies’ Pulitzer Prize-winning Dinner with Friends, a shocking divorce sends ripples through the lives of two couples who thought they knew one another—and themselves. What follows is a razor-sharp, darkly funny examination of love, loyalty, desire, and the stories we tell to sustain our closest relationships.

Sophisticated, provocative, and emotionally devastating, Dinner with Friends peels back the layers of modern marriage to reveal the fragile fault lines beneath. Margulies’ incisive dialogue and unflinching honesty make this contemporary classic as relevant today as ever, challenging audiences to ask: How well do we really know the people we love?Read more

El Test (The Test)

Gente de Teatro celebrates its 31st anniversary with EL TEST (The Test) by playwright Jordi Vallejo, winner of Spain’s Fray Luis de León Theater Award and Argentina’s prestigious ACE Award for Best Comedy.

What would you prefer: $100,000 now or $1,000,000 ten years from now?

El Test (The Test) begins with an apparently simple question and uses humor and intelligence to strip away the masks we all wear. What starts as an innocent game ends up questioning everything: love, success, failure, friendship, ethics, the fear of time's passage, and the small lies each character has used to construct their identity.
