3rd Annual Kuumba Festival

Dance Afrikana’s 3rd Annual Kuumba Festival is a festival of creativity in Black performing arts which celebrates the Kwanzaa season through Kuumba, one of its seven principles. Kuumba is the Kiswahili word for creativity, and its purpose is to leave the community “more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.”

The performance showcases dance, music, poetry, theater, fashion, and more to the city of Houston as well as embodies the principle of Kuumba.Read more

The HGFF consistantly brings its patrons the very best of Greek and Cypriot Cinema from all over the world, including all Greek/Cypriot candidates for the American Academy Awards. Past entrys of the Festival include POLYXENI, JAMAICA, KAZANTZAKIS, HOLY BOOM, 1968, THE SIEGE ON LIPERTI STREET, EFTIHIA, DIGGER, SMYRNA, MY BELOVED, and BLACK STONE just to name a few.
