ROCO's Unchambered series continues into the new year with “Unraveled”, a unique program featuring French hornist, Danielle Kuhlmann. In addition to a co-commissioned premiere by Jim Stephenson, the afternoon will feature works by Herzogenberg, Charlie Chaplin (yes, that Charlie Chaplin!), and Danielle’s own brother, Evan Kuhlmann. His Sonata for Horn and Piano was written to honor Alice Render, one of Danielle’s first teachers and mentors.Read more

Mezzo-soprano Jessica Blau (Portland Opera, Opera Cultura) collaborates with pianist Katherine Ciscon (Houston Ballet) and internationally acclaimed flamenco dancer Fanny Ara to present an evening of French and Spanish art song, exploring themes of exoticism and the Western concept of “the Orient." Songs by French composers are contrasted with authentic expressions of Spanish culture by native composers and expressed visually through lyrical flamenco dance. Read more
Bésame Mucho is a bolero recital, which takes the audience to the emotive and passionate world of women. Venezuelan singer Inés María Bravo, under the direction of William Sigismondi, performs a beautiful repertoire, which honors and highlights the musical work of extraordinary Latin American females of the 20th Century.
It showcases the outstanding contribution of women in the development of the bolero as a benchmark for Latin American popular music. The melodic discourse explores the diversity of the bolero through the rhythmic variations made by Caribbean countries, Mexico, and Argentina.Read more
