The Iris

The Iris is a collection of contemporary dance works by Lenorris Arnold that reflects a personal journey of mental health. Each of these works mirror the life stages of an iris flower. From an Iris's birth to flourish, Lenorris Arnold uses movement and projection to depict that even through different life struggles that peace can be found. The Iris also features guest performances by Jade Whitmire, Noble Motion 2, and The PAC Dance Company.Read more

stirs up still things includes world premieres by ISHIDA based on original poetic narratives and works by emerging and renown international choreographers. "Among dim shapes” by ISHIDA follows an intimate relationship and the ghosts they carry triggered by archetypal patterns. The program also includes a new creation by Swedish dancer, film director, and choreographer John Wannehag formerly with Tanzmainz, and a new work by award-winning British Finnish choreographer Kristian Lever. Lever returns to Houston having been featured at Dance Salad in 2019 and with the US premiere “An Intimate Distance” – an athletic men’s duet presented by ISHIDA in March 2022, originally created on Hamburg Ballet.

Broadway World said ISHIDA’s program in August was “an amazing showcase of modern contemporary dance” and “an incredible boon to the Houston art scene."Read more

All of the Above

All of the Above is a new evening-length dance work presented by Mezclada Dance Company this coming January 12th & 13th at the MATCH Houston. All of the Above not only represents the diversity of Houston arts audiences but celebrates unison within diversity by fusing an untraditional combination of dance styles, cultures, and music including breakdancing, modern, Latin jazz, salsa, and hip hop.Read more

Coin Toss

NobleMotion Dance’s pre-professional company returns to the MATCH in Coin Toss, January 22nd at 7:00 PM. The evening includes original works by Lenorris Arnold, Reagan Crandall, Jaiquan Laurencin, and NobleMotion Dance’s Artistic Directors' Andy Noble and Dionne Noble. Additionally, this concert will feature original choreography by NMD2 company members and a special guest performance by Sam Houston State University. Peter & Wendy

Open Dance Project’s Peter & Wendy takes a fresh look at this children’s favorite through the company’s signature athleticism, daring physicality, and theatrical whimsy. Featuring the music of Two Star Symphony and paying tribute to J.M. Barrie’s beloved story, performances on aerial silks and trapeze by Peter and Tink provide a magical approach to the story. A multigenerational cast of dancers and aerialists, featuring the ODP professional company and ODP2 (pre-professional dancers ages 14-18), sets the ingenuity and imagination of children at the heart of this performance for family audiences. Read more
