Open Dance Project's beloved family audiences production follows follows Dorothy as she is swept up in a tornado and transported to the magical land of OZ where she joins a Scarecrow, a Tinman, and a Lion on an adventure that teaches her about the power of thinking, loving, and daring to be different. A new work that tributes the composer and trumpeter Don Cherry featuring music by GRAMMY nominated trumpeter & composer Tim Hagans, choreography by Michele Brangwen, and music & movement created spontaneously in the moment by all performers. Cherry was interested in the relationship of music to the human spirit, and how music could be a force and a presence in our daily lives. Join us for an original  and magical exploration and celebration of what connects us to each other and the universe. Panopticon is a multimedia, immersive, dance theater performance inspired by Open Dance Project’s research into the sci-fi world of retro-futuristic dystopias. Set in a world where “citizens” are constantly being watched, a la George Orwell’s 1984, Panopticon follows two would-be lovers struggling with their desire for physical and emotional intimacy in a world where deep, human connection is forbidden. Read more
