Sabicas, whose passion for music left Spain during the turbulent years of the civil war in pursuit of artistic freedom in Mexico before traveling to New York City. He redefined flamenco guitar. His collaborations with esteemed flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya cemented his status as one of the greatest flamenco guitarists and composers of the 20th century.
