Salsa y Salud: Evolución!

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary, Salsa y Salud continues bringing Houstonians a fun, vibrant and exciting live salsa music and dance show. Join us in a new production as we pivot the show to a more engaging theatrical performance that will make you stand from your seat and move your body! This year we welcome Lázaro G. Polledo Cordero, bringing his international artistic vision as seen in Jamaica, Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, Venezuela, México and now, Houston. Carlos Yerandis Trujillo, founder and director of MatizArt and Son D’Ache leads the musical part. Both artists, graduates of the famous Tropicana de Cuba, merge their experience in this new era of Salsa y Salud. Students and dancers from Strictly Street Salsa and guests complete the cast; in all, over 30 artists come on stage in this entertaining evening of music and dance. Que Viva la Salsa!Read more

B-boy Jeffro Day: THE GET DOWN

This multidisciplinary event blends cinema, live performance, and community fundraising into one powerful evening that celebrates the journey of Olympian and Houston’s own B-boy Jeffro while uplifting the HipHop community through art, dance, and storytelling. The night begins with the premiere of JEFFRO, a powerful film that dives into Jeffro’s immigrant background, his resilience through adversity, and the path that led him to make history as a qualifier for the first-ever Breaking category at the 2024 Olympics. The film also sheds light on his mission to create sustainable careers for HipHop dancers in Texas, ensuring the culture continues to thrive for future generations.Read more

Samskriti presents a beautiful tapestry of 6 different and distinct forms of classical dances from India, performed by Houston's illustrious dance companies, under the direction of well established teachers and choreographers - Abhinaya School of Dance (Indrani Parthasarathy), Anjali Dance Company (Rathna Kumar), Kalangan Odissi Dance Academy (Supradipta Dutta) , Nritya School of Dance (Padmini Chari), Rice Rasikas (Rice University), Samskriti Dance Company, Silambam Dance Company (Lavanya Rajagopalan), Soma Gupta's School of Manipuri, Storytellers Dance Scool (Ekta Popat), Sunanda's Performing Arts Center (Sunanda Nair), Tatvam Scool of Dance (Lavanya Prabhu). This is a rare opportunity to see the coming together, on one platform, of diverse dancers and dances, highlighting the music, dance and choreography of Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Odissi, Mohiniyattam and Manipuri. Read more

Group Acorde presents Gasp: An evening of collaborative works between contemporary dance and live music with two original works centered on what happens to one’s breathing particularly during the time between preparing for a natural disaster to occur and its aftermath. This full evening production will feature two works: Inperson and Gasp. Both works demonstrate Group Acorde’s ability to create art collaborations that display the company’s diverse artistry and artists.Read more
